We are committed to an efficient and sustainable use of energy
Encevo was the first company in Luxembourg to receive the prestigious ISO 50001/2018 certification, just as it was among the first ones to obtain an ISO 50001/2011 certification in 2016. It is awarded to companies that demonstrate effective energy management and thus reduce their energy footprint. In this case, the certification was obtained for the group’s Esch-sur-Alzette site. All procedures had been thoroughly reviewed by the energy team with the support of various experts from the group’s subsidiaries, such as Enovos Services or Global Facilities.
This is one example showing Encevo’s capacity and commitment to support Luxembourg in reaching its international climate goals. The company firmly believes that energy efficiency plays a major role in energy transition. As a leading force in this transition, Encevo not only supports its local customers with audits and concrete measures to help them realise energy savings, it also wants to lead the way and set the example as a group.
Enovos is the energy partner to support individuals, companies, property managers and municipalities in their efforts towards a more sustainable energy use. We offer adapted services for many customer groups, consult individuals in their daily gestures and construction or renovation projects.
Enovos launched in 2015 the enoprimes programme to provide financial assistance to individuals, professionals and municipalities when carrying out certain energy efficiency measures. It thus plays a major role in Luxembourg’s national obligations relating to energy efficiency.
Enoprimes has been a key focus of Enovos over the past years. In 2019 alone, 132 GWh of energy savings were achieved, representing the electricity consumption of 33,000 households for one year.

In order to fully implement energy efficiency, you need the right tools that help monitor your consumption. Having almost completed its smart meter rollout, Creos will be able to manage more efficiently its grid and customers will get the opportunity to effectively monitor and optimize their entire energy consumption. Customers will have new options, while suppliers and service providers will be able to identify new opportunities regarding energy efficiency measures.
The investments operated by Creos put the customer in the passenger seat. He can retrieve more information about his consumption or production and thus save energy by adapting his habits. In the future, energy suppliers will be able to issue invoices based on actual consumption instead of estimates and thus create new added-value services.
Energy efficiency is a central focus for Enovos Services and its subsidiaries. They offer a wide range of products and services addressing individuals, companies and public authorities.
One of its subsidiaries, energieagence offers energy consulting, auditing as well as training services; hence it empowers energy users to use energy more efficiently and to use more renewable energies.
Paul Wagner & Fils, another subsidiary, combines the full range of its services with the aim of bringing down energy costs on a long-term basis. Energie-Tuning® takes a holistic approach to optimising energy efficiency in buildings and technical installations. From the selection of energy sources, their purchase, storage and management, to the production, distribution and storage of energy and their recovery, all factors are summarised and optimised in an energy efficiency programme. It thus provides the basis for reducing CO2 emissions and securing the future in the sense of the current Energy Saving Legislation in Luxembourg. Click here for more information on Energie-Tuning®.
We are actively pushing decarbonisation
Renewable energies are a core purpose of Encevo Group. In order to support a sustainable energy transition, we focus on developing and operating in the Greater Region projects producing energy from renewable sources. In Luxembourg, the group already has a large photovoltaic asset base and continues to develop wind park projects. Additional photovoltaic and wind projects are developed in Germany, especially in Saarland, the Netherlands and Belgium. Through subsidiaries or joint ventures in Luxembourg, Encevo Group is also active in the field of biomass in combination with heating/cooling networks and in hydropower. Creating partnerships is a key to success in renewable energy projects. This is shown for instance through the development of photovoltaic installations via joint ventures agreements with Post, Cactus, RTL Group and others.
The group has also made huge progress in the field of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for big industrial clients and smaller projects, in Luxembourg as well as in Germany. For example, the Group supplies the charging station network Chargy in Luxembourg with 100% back-to-back green energy from fully traceable production facilities.
Enovos is a major player in Luxembourg and the Greater Region in the planning, implementation and operation of renewable energy projects.
In Luxembourg, wind energy projects amounting to a total capacity of 91 MW have been and additional ones are under development in Soler, a joint venture between Enovos Luxembourg S.A. and SEO S.A., which operates also hydroelectric power plants in Luxembourg.
In the field of solar energy, Enovos Luxembourg S.A either already holds significant assets or plans to install new large-scale photovoltaic projects, mainly with partners such as RTL, Cactus, Post Luxembourg, Luxtram, Kichechef, Panelux, Arcelor Mittal, Arthur Welter, Good Year, Hellmich, and Voyages Vandivinit. The portfolio of projects amounts to a total capacity of nearly 35 MW on the territory of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. This corresponds to an energy production matching the energy consumption of approximately 8000 households. Additionally, the subsidiary LuxEnergie offers energy contracting turnkey solutions in the field of biomass in combination with heating/cooling networks.
Enovos develops furthermore solar energy projects in Germany, especially in Saarland, but also in the Netherlands and Belgium. Wind energy assets are held, besides Luxembourg, also in Germany with a special focus on Saarland.
In Germany, Enovos Deutschland SE and its subsidiaries rely on cooperation with regional energy suppliers as well as partnerships with project developers and plant manufacturers for consistent expansion.
Enovos increases the local wind and photovoltaic footprint and enables together with partners the realisation of sustainable projects to contribute to the Greater Regions energy future.
A sustainable energy transition requires strong and reliable grids. The national climate and energy plans of Luxembourg and its neighbouring countries aim to significantly increase renewable energy generation and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The direct repercussions thereof on grid activities will be quite substantial in the area of both power and gas.
This is why Creos Luxembourg S.A will upgrade the capacity and the intelligence of its power grid systems in the coming years, in particular the capacity to transport energy produced from renewable sources in the north (e.g. wind and sun) to the regions in the centre and the south as well as the reinforcement of the high-voltage interconnection lines with the German grid. Additionally, Creos Luxembourg S.A. will undertake the necessary steps to prepare the gas grids for decarbonised gases.
Creos Deutschland GmbH works on further integrating renewable energy in its electricity grid and intends to launch projects in the field of sector coupling, repurposing of gas grids and hydrogen.
As is the case for the whole Encevo Group, a sustainable energy transition is at the core of Creos’ mission in Luxembourg and in Germany.
At Enovos Services, we firmly believe that the energy transition represents a collective challenge. We face it together and we should have the opportunity to get collectively involved. That is why Enovos Services took the initiative of launching the collaborative platform sunity, specialised in the development and management of cooperative photovoltaic installations in Luxembourg.
Sunity aims to position itself as one of the leading players in Luxembourg in promoting renewable energies among all members of the public who wish to participate in the energy transition. It is the direct link between the energy producer and the public. It provides access to investments to all citizens who wish to participate and invest in cooperatives developed in their municipality. To facilitate public participation in the cooperatives developed by sunity as well as management of the invested capital, sunity provides a platform including all the municipal as well as industrial photovoltaic projects of a cooperative nature.
Discover sunity and take part in the Luxembourg energy transition.
We enable you to produce your own energy
There are many roads to the energy world of tomorrow. The vision of a fully decarbonised Greater Region will require the increased production of renewable energies and improved energy efficiency. But the role of the consumer will also have to change fundamentally. The Encevo Group sees its role as a catalyst in order to ensure that this transition will be sustainable.
What will be the role of the consumer? He will be tomorrow’s prosumer. This means that everyone will be able to produce his own energy, for example producing power through solar panels installed on one’s roof, and storing it in batteries installed in one’s cellar. As the prosumer lives in a highly energy-efficient house (heat pump, smart thermostat, instantaneous monitoring of energy consumption, …), he will be able to either store his surplus, use it to charge his electric car in his garage or inject it into the grid – which in the meantime will have become intelligent – so that others can benefit from it.
Besides the supply with green electricity and green gas to a wide range of customers, Enovos Luxembourg S.A. supports the development of decentralised renewable energy in Luxembourg through the “fonds nova naturstroum”. It offers premiums for renewable energy projects and studies carried out by individuals, municipalities, public or educational institutions, NGOs, certain companies, non-profit associations and cooperatives. Additionally, “fonds nova naturstroum” supports projects in the field of energy efficiency, eco-technologies and the rational use of resources in Luxembourg. Over the last ten years, “fonds nova naturstroum” granted nearly 4,900 premiums for an amount of nearly EUR 2,700,000. Further details and the premium request form can be found online.
In Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany, decentralised renewable energy installations and services are offered through municipal utilities in which our group holds shares.
The integration of an increased number of renewable energy sources coupled with the rapid further development of electromobility is at the core of the efforts in Luxembourg and the Greater Region to achieve a sustainable energy transition.
For Creos Luxembourg S.A., this constitutes a major challenge because the installations will not only have to be connected, but production and consumption have to be managed effectively.
Creos Luxembourg S.A. has been aligning its organisation to these new challenges through a massive investment in the power grid infrastructure and its digitisation. These investments will help to progressively shift the focus of the supply backbone from large central generation units to decentralised generation while also taking into consideration the flexible needs of local photovoltaic depending strongly on weather conditions.
Creos Deutschland GmbH, with its 450 km long medium and high-voltage grid in Saarland, will also ensure that its grid remains attractive for renewable energies.
