We are committed to an efficient and sustainable use of energy
Encevo Group is active along the whole energy value chain, from production to services. It is a key player in the energy transition in Luxembourg and the Greater region. As the global climate crisis calls for ambitious initiatives, Encevo Group will redouble its efforts in energy efficiency, renewable energies and decarbonisation.
In Luxembourg, Encevo Group plays an important role in supporting the country in the implementation of its ambitious energy and climate plan. An important aspect of a sustainable energy transition is energy efficiency. Encevo Group can act at all levels of energy efficiency improvement.
Through different subsidiaries, our group assists companies and municipalities in managing their daily energy consumption. Enovos, for example, uses incentives such as communication campaigns or the granting of premiums for energy efficient renovations called enoprimes. In the services branch, various group subsidiaries (e.g. energieagence, Global Facilities, …) offer energy consulting or energy management solutions. This can include energy audits, the recommendation of less energy-consuming solutions, advising the installation of photovoltaic panels to help customers achieve a certain degree of autonomy and more.
As half of the country’s energy consumption comes from mobility, decarbonising transport is the biggest challenge ahead. Electromobility is therefore being promoted nationwide, as it allows the use of renewable energy and as electric engines are more efficient.
After deploying the Chargy network, Creos, the grid operator of Encevo Group, deployed the first high-speed charging stations in January 2021. Group subsidiaries in the domain of technical services are also helping major private and public players to install additional charging stations on their land. Finally, Enovos, via its enodrive card and its application, facilitates access to the recharging network and has even extended this service internationally to offer more mobility and independence to its users.
These few examples reflect our group’s strategy, to give every entity the means to drive the energy transition forward in their respective domains and hopefully make all the pieces of this puzzle come together in the end.
Enovos is the energy partner to support individuals, companies, property managers and municipalities in their efforts towards a more sustainable energy use.
Enovos launched the enoprimes programme in 2015 to encourage customers to reduce their energy consumption. The programme also serves to provide financial assistance to individuals, professionals and municipalities when carrying out certain energy efficiency measures. It thus plays a major role in Luxembourg’s national obligations relating to energy efficiency.
With the enoprimes programme, Enovos saved 700 GWh of energy during the last 5 years, (2019 realised a total of 132 GWh, while 2020 realised a total of 100 GWh). In 2020 Enovos generated more than 3,750 offers for new energy efficiency measures while, in the same time period, more than 1,600 initiatives were finalised. Overall, in the last five years, more than 10,000 requests were handled and a total of 100,000 tons of CO2 was saved.

In order to fully implement energy efficiency, you need the right tools that help monitor your consumption. Having almost completed its smart meter rollout, Creos will be able to manage more efficiently its grid and customers will get the opportunity to effectively monitor and optimize their entire energy consumption. Customers will have new options, while suppliers and service providers will be able to identify new opportunities regarding energy efficiency measures.
The investments operated by Creos put the customer in the passenger seat. He can retrieve more information about his consumption or production and thus save energy by adapting his habits. In the future, energy suppliers will be able to issue invoices based on actual consumption instead of estimates and thus create new added-value services.
Energy efficiency is a central element of a sustainable energy transition. Hence it is a special focus for Teseos and its subsidiaries. They offer a wide range of products and services addressing individuals, companies and public authorities.
Energieagence for example provides numerous tools and services to measure and guarantee the energy efficiency of housing and business buildings. These range from energy consulting to quality assurance and include tailored services to help customers in the realisation of their projects and provide advice on the various existing subsidy systems. energieagence also helps customers in their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint through the accounting of greenhouse gas emissions according to the Bilan Carbone® method.
Global Facilities, another subsidiary of Teseos, is a trusted partner when it comes to the energy management systems of buildings, which is just one of its large array of provided services. One example is the prestigious ISO 50001certification. Encevo was among the first companies in Luxembourg to receive this certification awarded to companies that demonstrate effective energy management and thus reduce their energy footprint for the group’s Esch-sur-Alzette. In this case, the certification was obtained for the group’s Esch-sur-Alzette site, thanks also to the support of various experts from the group’s subsidiaries, such as Global Facilities
We are actively pushing decarbonisation
Renewable energies are a core purpose of Encevo Group. In order to support a sustainable energy transition, we focus on developing and operating in the Greater Region projects producing energy from renewable sources. In Luxembourg, the group already has a large photovoltaic asset base and continues to develop wind park projects. Additional photovoltaic and wind projects are developed in Germany, especially in Saarland, the Netherlands and Belgium. Through subsidiaries or joint ventures in Luxembourg, Encevo Group is also active in the field of biomass in combination with heating/cooling networks and in hydropower. Creating partnerships is a key to success in renewable energy projects. This is shown for instance through the development of photovoltaic installations via joint ventures agreements with Post, Cactus, RTL Group and others.
The group has also made huge progress in the field of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for big industrial clients and smaller projects, in Luxembourg as well as in Germany. For example, the Group supplies the charging station network Chargy in Luxembourg with 100% back-to-back green energy from fully traceable production facilities.
Enovos is a major player in Luxembourg and the Greater Region in the planning, implementation and operation of renewable energy projects.
In Luxembourg, wind energy projects amounting to a total capacity of above 100 MW have been developed in Soler, a joint venture between Enovos Luxembourg S.A. and SEO S.A., which operates also hydroelectric power plants in Luxembourg.
In the field of solar energy, Enovos Luxembourg S.A either already holds significant assets or plans to install new large-scale photovoltaic projects with various partners such as RTL Group, ArcelorMittal, Goodyear, Arthur Welter Logistics, Post, Luxtram, Panelux, Cactus, ….
These installations include Luxembourg’s first large ground-mounted PV installations as well as novel concepts such as car park shades or floating PV. The overall installed renewable capacity in Luxembourg alone amounts to 184 MW and the portfolio of projects foresees more than 75 additional MW of capacity (wind and PV) on the territory of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Additionally, the subsidiary LuxEnergie offers energy contracting turnkey solutions in the field of biomass in combination with heating/cooling networks.
Enovos develops furthermore solar energy projects in Germany, especially in Saarland, but also in the Netherlands and Belgium. Wind energy assets are held, besides Luxembourg, also in Germany with a special focus on Saarland.
In Germany, Enovos Deutschland SE and its subsidiaries rely on cooperation with regional energy suppliers as well as partnerships with project developers and plant manufacturers for consistent expansion.
Enovos increases the local wind and photovoltaic footprint and enables together with partners the realisation of sustainable projects to contribute to the Greater Regions energy future.
Currently, Enovos has an installed capacity of 358 MW which generated a renewable energy production of 729 GWh in 2020.
A sustainable energy transition requires strong and reliable grids. The national climate and energy plans of Luxembourg and its neighbouring countries aim to significantly increase renewable energy generation and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The direct repercussions thereof on grid activities will be quite substantial in the area of both power and gas.
This is why Creos Luxembourg S.A will upgrade the capacity and the intelligence of its power grid systems in the coming years, in particular the capacity to transport energy produced from renewable sources in the north (e.g. wind and sun) to the regions in the centre and the south as well as the reinforcement of the high-voltage interconnection lines with the German grid. Additionally, Creos Luxembourg S.A. will undertake the necessary steps to prepare the gas grids for decarbonised gases.
Creos Deutschland GmbH works on further integrating renewable energy in its electricity grid and intends to launch projects in the field of sector coupling, repurposing of gas grids and hydrogen.
As is the case for the whole Encevo Group, a sustainable energy transition is at the core of Creos’ mission in Luxembourg and in Germany.
In order to achieve a sustainable energy transition, the part of renewable energies must increase. In this context, Paul Wagner & Fils has established itself in the construction of large PV installations. These large installations are an important tool for achieving a sustainable energy transition.
The services of Paul Wagner & Fils range from the preparation and installation to the maintenance of PV systems. Showcase projects in this area include the large PV systems in Beidweiler and Junglinster, but PWF has also installed systems for numerous companies. In this way, companies can actively participate in the energy transition and reduce their carbon footprint at the same time.
We enable you to produce your own energy
There are many roads to the energy world of tomorrow. The vision of a fully decarbonised Greater Region will require the increased production of renewable energies and improved energy efficiency. But the role of the consumer will also have to change fundamentally. The Encevo Group sees its role as a catalyst in order to ensure that this transition will be sustainable.
What will be the role of the consumer? He will be tomorrow’s prosumer. This means that everyone will be able to produce his own energy, for example producing power through solar panels installed on one’s roof, and storing it in batteries installed in one’s cellar. As the prosumer lives in a highly energy-efficient house (heat pump, smart thermostat, instantaneous monitoring of energy consumption, …), he will be able to either store his surplus, use it to charge his electric car in his garage or inject it into the grid – which in the meantime will have become intelligent – so that others can benefit from it.
Besides the supply with green electricity and green gas to a wide range of customers, Enovos Luxembourg S.A. supports the development of decentralised renewable energy in Luxembourg through the “fonds nova naturstroum”. It offers premiums for renewable energy projects and studies carried out by individuals, municipalities, public or educational institutions, NGOs, certain companies, non-profit associations and cooperatives. Additionally, “fonds nova naturstroum” supports projects in the field of energy efficiency, eco-technologies and the rational use of resources in Luxembourg. Since 2005, “fonds nova naturstroum” granted nearly 3.900 premiums for an amount of nearly EUR 2.975.000. Further details and the premium request form can be found online.
In Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany, decentralised renewable energy installations and services are offered through municipal utilities in which our group holds shares.
The integration of an increased number of renewable energy sources coupled with the rapid further development of electromobility is at the core of the efforts in Luxembourg and the Greater Region to achieve a sustainable energy transition.
For Creos Luxembourg S.A., this constitutes a major challenge because the installations will not only have to be connected, but production and consumption have to be managed effectively.
Creos Luxembourg S.A. has been aligning its organisation to these new challenges through a massive investment in the power grid infrastructure and its digitisation. These investments will help to progressively shift the focus of the supply backbone from large central generation units to decentralised generation while also taking into consideration the flexible needs of local photovoltaic depending strongly on weather conditions.
Creos Deutschland GmbH, with its 450 km long medium and high-voltage grid in Saarland, will also ensure that its grid remains attractive for renewable energies.
Every contribution counts in the energy transition. In addition to the larger systems, a large number of smaller PV systems can also contribute to the expansion of renewable energy production. Teseos actively pushes the deployment of such solutions among individuals for smaller-scale rooftop installations.
An important actor in this value chain is Minusines, who among other services is active in the storage and distribution of photovoltaic panels and mounting systems including installation material.
diego offers an all-inclusive approach to the end customer from the study to define the potential for electricity production on rooftops up to the proposed equipment. This applies to house owners as well as to co-ownerships who wish to invest in a photovoltaic system and consume the energy produced locally. The easier it is for people to join in the energy transition, the more will also take the initiative and unleash the strength in numbers.
We deploy solutions to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels
At Encevo, we believe that one of the cornerstones of decarbonisation efforts is mobility. Efficiently managing cleaner mobility, will be essential to the success of the decarbonisation of Luxembourg and the Greater Region. Electromobility is on the rise and we as grid operators will meet the challenge to make our grids ready.
Creos Luxembourg S.A. is fully aware of the requirement to constantly reinforce our power grids in order to anticipate and be ready for the energy needs of tomorrow. This does also include new flexibility mechanisms and the need to adapt to renewable energies that provide flexible generation based upon weather conditions. All these elements represent an enormous challenge for a grid operator but are essential for the transition to more renewable energies and for the reduction of greenhouse gases. The intensive build-up of the public charging station network Chargy underlines the necessity to have charging stations widely available across Luxembourg.
As Chargy is widely established throughout Luxembourg, the first public ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles in Luxembourg, called “SuperChargy” were connected to the grid in January 2021. Provided by the distribution network operator, Creos, the deployment of 88 ultra-fast charging stations (160-320 kW) for 100% electric cars is planned to take place gradually until 2023. Spread throughout the country, 19 ultra-fast charging stations will be installed at motorway service areas and on the country’s other main roads.
All “Chargy” and “SuperChargy” charging stations will continue to distribute electricity produced exclusively from 100% renewable energy.
At Creos Deutschland GmbH, we work on further integration of renewable energy in our electricity grid and intend to make our electricity grid ready for fast charging.
With the rise of electromobility, offering state of the art charging solutions is an increasingly important part of the decarbonisation of mobility. Teseos is an expert in energy services and in innovative technical services implemented by its own subsidiaries or in collaboration with partners. Teseos’ subsidiaries offer various solutions.
Minusines for example is a major supplier and distributor for charging stations for various actors in Luxembourg. The offer ranges from simple charging stations up to more complex charging infrastructure.
diego is more directed towards the end customer and offers charging solutions for house owners and co-ownerships, for example larger residential buildings
